Gosh, are you wondering what to cook in under 10 minutes, especially if you have load shedding coming? KW Select prides ourselves on knowing just how difficult to can be to juggle life and work. It’s called balance but we don’t always have that. But we are not known for cooking meals in under 10 minutes. We are known for very different things, property being one of those things.
What I have found we are not eating enough of during load shedding are veggies. So I am a mom and I do add more green to every plate that I can.
Why the Odd Recipe for Inspiration?
Well at KW Select, we all go home and we face the same music. Load shedding, homework and chores. It’s for this reason that we thought we would share just the odd recipe that is not just quick but also nutritious if you need to answer that question that just pops into your head at say 4 pm. At KW Select we know the drill all too well.
With even less time to prepare with load shedding here, we thought we would share some quick, easy, nutritious meals that you can pull together in just a few minutes. And using less than 5 ingredients.
What Ingredients Will You Need?
- Your favourite packet of pasta – we used spaghetti for this meal. And yes, we cook together.
- 1 Small punnet of cherry or baby tomatoes per person – which you will slice in half.
- A handful of Rocket.
- And finally, a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese if you have it. But it’s lovely without it. Ground pepper is also lovely and it just adds a little pop.
- If like me you are adding veggies, baby marrow, thinly sliced or even some shaved broccoli add a lovely green colour to the plate, but keep it more red than green.
How To Prepare Your Family Meal In Under 10 Minutes?
- Cook your favourite packet of pasta and ours is Spaghetti – which you need to cook as you always do. Follow the directions on the packet for optimal results.
- Next, wash a small punnet of baby or cherry tomatoes. Slice each tomato in half.
- Once the pasta has cooked, drain the pasta immediately and stir in the tomatoes and a handful of Rocket per person.
- Serve straight away and if you have some Parmesan cheese, a little sprinkle if you wish.
- Other ideas include swapping the Pasta for Couscous or even a generous helping of Wholegrain Rice. Not sure if you know this but if you make a big portion of rice and then freeze it, it will cut your cooking time down even further if you are trying to beat the load-shedding clock.
