Before I joined KW this was a major concern for me.  Who had access to my data?  I have been in corporate for long enough to know the value of a database.  I also know that data is my livelihood. 

I Grilled Johann De Wet And I Grilled Him Hard

I really did grill Johann De Wet the Operating Partner at KW Select. I needed to know exactly how safe my data was.  In truth, my data is my data.  I can export my data to a CSV file in around 12 seconds and I have over 10,000 contacts on my database!  I do it just in case but I also know the world’s largest real estate brand has this sorted to.  I have learned to trust the process and the results I get from fishing upstream have been brilliant.  Never what they could be but that’s my priority to address.  Nobody has access to my or your data.  Nobody has access to your business.  It’s your business and fishing upstream with data is so much more fruitful.  You decide how to touch, when to touch and what to say.  When I looked behind the scenes which I did, I realised my data is only accessible to me.  Yes, the Market Centre can see on the whole how much data I have on my database but that’s like the weight of a bag of sugar.  We know it weighs 2,5 kgs.  But only I can open the bag of sugar to inspect every grain.  Yes my MC can see how effectively or ineffectively I use my data.  How many e-mails or tasks I have, how many SMS go out but the detail is mine.  My data and mine alone.

Biggest Learning Which I Call School Fees

I worked for a Traditional Estate Agency Model (TAM) in Randburg for just over a year.  The comm split was 50/50.  I also worked with a guy and we created a team which this TAM was not geared for.  So we had to split our 50 into 2 giving us each 25% comm per deal.  Yes, there were no monthly fees, but this TAM kept 50% of my commission.  When this never worked out after 7 sales in 1 month and upon realizing that my 25% across 7 sales would still not help me meet my financial obligations, ‘we’ moved to KW Select.
