What To Do To Make Your Home Cosy in Winter
- You could add a little indoor plant in your bedroom. The indoor décor guru’s say adding plants with white flowers is very in.
- Fill a bowl in your kitchen with fresh Pomegranates. They look good and you will add them during the month as you create a twist on your favourite recipes this Winter.
- If you have something special in the line of crockery, add them for display, especially if they are stoneware or white. You could decorate a lonely shelf in the kitchen or the lounge with something special. But only 1 or 2 not the whole set.
- Prop some Birch logs in a corner. Wood = warm for sure.
- Add a mirror in a room to reflect some light. Light is good and as cold as it is, open windows in the morning to let in some fresh air.
- Keep the curtains open to let in all the natural light you possibly can.
- Layer white or neutral bedding in your main bedroom. May be difficult and impractical if you have children but make the main bedroom something special you can retreat to at the end of a cold hard day at work.
- Add some fluffy textures. And nothing speaks to snuggling quite like a soft pillow or fluffy blankie.
- Light some candles, especially if you have no power at night and it’s dinner time. Nothing speaks to ‘gees’ quite like a candle or 3.
- Add warm seat covers.
- Change your globes to the ‘warm lighting’ tone. Anything to grab the moments that spell atmosphere.
- What about creating a cosy reading corner in the sunshine, especially for the weekends?
- Find some funky hot water bottles. Please make sure they are SABS approved.
- Add some scented oils. Something heavier than Magnolia. Vanilla essence, cinnamon, etc. Spice it up and add to the experience of living you your beautiful home. Make this a Winter to remember.
- Display some pine cones in a lovely glass vase or bowl. We have all passed a pine tree on the way to or from work. Stop with a shopping bag handy and collect yours for display. They look stunning in a vase.
